Students Run Real Businesses!
The College Tech Prep Business Technology & Financial Services senior
class at Choffin Career & Technical Center is using the entrepreneurial
skills they have learned by creating three real-life business ventures.
They are selling space where staff and classmates can have messages posted
by the day or the week on the electronic message marquee located inside the
Main Commons. They are also selling snack items each Wednesday afternoon at
arrival time. The proceeds from these businesses will be used to purchase
technology items for their classroom. The third hands-on experience is
selling books through the Books are Fun program where each student will
receive their choice of a book from the selection depending on how many
books are sold. These projects provide students with actual work-related
skills such as marketing a business, advertising, accounting,
money-management, and public relations experience.
