FASFA Website

You must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Using the FAFSA on the Web is the quickest and easiest way to apply.

The steps in applying for aid using the online FAFSA:

  1. Get a pin - before beginning the FAFSA, the student must apply for a U.S. Department of Education pin number.   This pin number is a personal information number that allows the student to sign the FAFSA electronically.   Any student under the age of 24 is required to submit their parents financial information, therefore a pin number is also required by the parent signing the application.

The website to apply for a pin number is www.pin.ed.gov

  1. Once you have received your pin number, the following information is needed to complete the online FAFSA.
  • Drivers License Number
  • Student's Social Security Number (and your parents Social Security Number if you are providing their information.)
  • Tax Information, such as your tax returns and W-2.   Tax information is needed for the previous year.
  • Any untaxed income.   Examples:   Social Security benefits, Veterans benefits and any type of temporary assistance for Needy Families.
  1. Now you are ready to apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
  2. Make sure you enter all information necessary and submit your application.   The student must receive a confirmation number.   The confirmation number lets them know that their information was submitted successfully.
  3. The school will receive the results in approximately ten days after submitting your application.
  4. Always follow up on your FAFSA if you do not hear from them within three weeks by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov and check the status of a submitted FAFSA.
  5. After you hear from FAFSA contact Choffin Career and Technical Center for assistance with Pell Grants, Federal Stafford Student Loans, Veteran Assistance, and Outside Agencies Funding.

All classes under 900 hours are prorated for Federal Funding.

You can reach our Financial Aid office at 330-744-8500 Ext. 8703
