Choffin's Dental Assisting Program Gives Kids A Smile For The 7th Year!
National Give Kids A Smile day is Friday, February 6, 2009. Choffin Career
and Technical Center's School of Accredited Dental Assisting will be seeing
students from 9:30AM-11:00AM on the 3rd floor of the Career Center. This
day is to provide free oral health care services to thousands of low-income
children across the country. Free dental services such as examinations,
cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants and fillings are provided
free of charge. Choffin is registered with the American Dental Association
who provides toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other materials for the children
to take home. Area dentists, dental hygienists, and dental students
volunteer their time and skills to help the children. Choffin has
participated in the program for the past 6 years. Choffin will service
students from Martin Luther King, Harding, PC Bunn, McGuffey, Kirkmere, P.
Ross Berry, Odyssey, and Headstart. We estimate that we will service 300
children during the week. Choffin will continue to provide dental care for
the Youngstown City School children and in the future Choffin hopes to
expand the dental clinic to provide additional services.
